Guild of American Papercutters
Turning cut paper into art....
Members of the Guild endeavor to learn, educate and promote original papercutting as an artform to, and among: artists, historians, supporters of the art, collectors, and the general public. The Guild encourages knowledge of traditions and acceptance of exploration through its newsletter, traveling exhibits, a biennial papercutting conference called "Collection," and members’ workshops and demonstrations.
Papercutting artist Kathy Trexel-Reed of Somerset County introduced the art form to students in Martha Ringler’s art class at Richland Senior High School.
Reed taught the students papercutting techniques during a two-week Artist-in-Residence program in May, funded by a grant from the Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art, also known as SAMA.
